SAM is Central Pennsylvania’s only dedicated art museum, with exhibits reflecting the community’s diverse cultural heritage and the work of over 110 regional artists. A model for revitalization and historic preservation, K&W provided site design and land development services for the new $7 million museum located in the historic Keystone Building, at Third and Calder streets in Harrisburg’s Midtown neighborhood.
Specifically K&W was responsible for plan approval (land development, zoning, erosion and sediment control) and site design services for the tight, urban location. Design elements included pedestrian and vehicular access, landscape design, utility coordination, and parking facilities. K&W also prepared the property boundary and topographic survey, coordinated environmental investigation and geotechnical work, and provided construction phase services.
